Today the start of the “Sharjah Heritage Days”


The activities of the 18th edition of the “Sharjah Heritage Days” will start today in the Heritage Square in the heart of Sharjah, which host artistic teams, crafts, culinary and handicraft specialists to present the cultural heritage of the UAE and 29 Arab and foreign countries, and with the participation of the event audience more than 500 Heritage and cultural events from different parts of the world.

The event organized by the “Sharjah Heritage Institute” will take place over a period of 22 days from March 20 until next April 10 and will open its doors under the slogan “Cultural Heritage brings us together” in front of visitors of various age groups from 4 pm to 10 pm during weekdays and from 4 pm Until midnight on weekends, they can taste the most delicious traditional international and local dishes, and enjoy singing, dancing, textile arts, playing, henna, leather making, and other traditional crafts and arts.

The event, which is the largest event to celebrate world and human heritage in the Emirates and the region, celebrates the Republic of Montenegro Guest of Honor and the Republic of Kazakhstan as a distinguished guest as well as hosting Belarus, Macedonia, Bashkuristan, Bulgaria, Tajikistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Maldives, Yemen, and the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as Italy, Spain, France, Sudan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Algeria, the Syrian Arab Republic, Kenya, Tunisia, the Netherlands, Mauritania, Iraq, and India.

The event’s organizing committee set 28 precautionary measures, allocating two entry and exit gates and thermal detectors at each gate, in addition to publishing awareness posters about the importance of physical distancing and placing precautionary instructions on the entrance screens. Specialized teams will conduct daily sterilization operations for the square except for the village where the sterilization process will take place. On a regular basis after the end of each event for a period of half an hour. Protective masks, sterilizers and other preventive supplies will be provided.

The Organizing Committee has set the capacity for visitors during weekdays, up to 3000 visitors, and on weekends up to 6000 visitors, and has allocated 490 spots for the event, behind the Sharjah Theater for Performing Arts, in front of Al Zahraa Mosque, in front of Al Arsa Market and Cultural Heritage Events Center – Western House.
