High Court In Owerri Grants Application Restraining INEC From Recognizing Senator Ararume



A State High Court in Owerri the Imo state capital has granted an application of motion exparte filed by Mr. Frank Ibezim restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC from issuing a certificate of return to Senator Ifeanyi Ararume or recognizing him as the winner of the December 5th Imo north senatorial district bye-election.

This injunction is pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for an order of interlocutory injunction.

According to the judge, Justice Theresa Chukwuemeka-Chikeka, the order was given after hearing the application of one Martin Aguda counsel to Mr. Frank Ibezim, the court took into consideration the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction and the originating summons filed respectively on the 18th day of March 2021.

The notice and grounds of appeal and motion on notice for a stay of execution filed and pending at the Supreme Court in appeal number S.C/C.V/182/2021 and appeal number S.C/C.V/183/2021 by the applicant and APC respectively, were also considered.
