Three vigilantes remanded for alleged murder

p style="text-align: justify;">Three members of a vigilante group in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State have been remanded at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre over alleged murder.

p style="text-align: justify;">The three vigilante members were arraigned in a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt on Wednesday in connection with the killing of Princewill Ogbonda and Peter Oputum.

<

p style="text-align: justify;">Princewill Ogbonda and Peter Oputum were arrested in November 2020, by members of the vigilante called Igwuruta Onelga Security Peace Advisory Council in Igwuruta, and their whereabouts remained unknown till date.

p style="text-align: justify;">But following complaints by families of the missing men, the police had invaded the IISPAC office and arrested the three suspects

p style="text-align: justify;">They are Ikechukwu Amadi, Bright Nwogu and Chiwado Donatus.

p style="text-align: justify;">When the matter came up on Wednesday, Magistrate Eyinda Kennedy, advised that the case file be transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice because his Court lacks jurisdiction to hear the matter.

p style="text-align: justify;">The Magistrate after adjourning the matter to April 29 urged the lawyer to the suspects to approach the High Court to seek the bail of his clients.
