The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) said on Friday that the country would benefit enormously from the election of its president Amaju Pinnick to the FIFA Council.

Sanusi Mohammed, secretary general of the NFF, who said this in an interview with the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) in Abuja, noted that the victory was a great political achievement for the country.

“The victory of Nigerian Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick is not just for him but for Nigeria and all Nigerians,” he said.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that Pinnick was in Rabat, Morocco on Friday elected to the FIFA Council, which is the highest decision-making body in world football.

The FIFA Council is a combination of 37 men selected from around the world, charged with responsibility for FIFA governance in terms of structure, decision-making, policy formulation and ensuring that policies are well put. implemented.

Pinnick beat his rival and outgoing Walter Nyamilandu of Malawi by 43 to 8 to enter the 37-member FIFA Council.

Mohammed told NAN in an interview that the country has entered the mainstream of world football administration.

“It means a lot to us because having representation on the FIFA Council means a lot to the football administration and I know that Amaju Pinnick being what he is, will do everything possible to represent Nigeria very well.

“There is nothing for Nigeria that will escape the country, and anything to lobby I know it will do for Nigeria and Africa in general.

“So I can say that this achievement is a great political achievement for Nigeria; it has a lot of political advantages by the simple fact that a Nigerian is called everywhere whenever FIFA has meetings.

“With this, too, Nigeria will have an advantage over countries that have no representation.

“If special attention is to be given to member countries, Nigeria will be among the first to be considered, knowing that we have someone on the board who can say support Nigeria.
