Monarch pledges support for Osun food support scheme

Olufon of Ifon Orolu in Osun State, Oba Al-Maroof Magbagbeola, has pledged support for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola over his administration’s introduction of food support scheme and youth agricultural empowerment programmes.

The royal father made the pledge in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.

The Osun State government had approved the commencement of the state’s Food Support Scheme with a mandate to feed 30,000 vulnerable citizens starting from March this year till November next year.

Oba Magbegbeola, who spoke when the Civic Engagement team visited his palace, said the scheme would boost the local economy since the food items to be shared would be sourced locally.

“The food support initiative is nothing but people centred. The agricultural programs for the youths through which lands are allocated for productive cultivation, is indeed another means of empowerment to the vast youthful population.

“It is also an effective way of opening series of job opportunities as well as unlocking the potentials of the youths in the entrepreneurship development,” he said

The monarch also commended the governor for the respect he usually gives to the traditional institutions in the state.
