President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated Mr. Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), on his election to the FIFA Executive Council, the highest decision-making body in world football.
The president’s congratulatory message is contained in a statement by his spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Friday.
The President expressed the belief that through hard work, dedication and consistency, Pinnick has proven to be an effective football administrator.
He noted that the world had taken note of Pinnick’s skills in electing him to the FIFA Council and one of the vice-presidents of the African Football Confederation (CAF).
According to him, this feat of increased visibility and prestige of Nigeria in the international community comes in the wake of the recent elections of other Nigerians who are well qualified and endowed in strategic leadership positions in international organizations.
The President urged Pinnick to see his new mission as an opportunity to strengthen Nigeria’s reputation and identity as a country with passion for football.
The Nigerian leader, an active supporter of the round leather game, joined other enthusiastic fans in Nigeria and across the continent in wishing the NFF president the best in his new post. (NOPE)
