Abia bye-election holds March 27, says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed Saturday, March 27, 2021, for the conduct of the bye-election to fill the vacant seat for the Aba North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State.

INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, made the announcement in a statement after a meeting of the commission in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, the vacancy arose as a result of the death of Ossy Prestige, member of the House of Representatives and the subsequent declaration of vacancy for the Federal constituency.

He said, “Consequently, the commission has fixed Saturday March 27 2021 for the conduct of the bye-election to fill the vacant seat for the Aba North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State.”
