11 suspects arrested in Osun cult clash

 The Osun State Police Command on Wednesday said it had apprehended 11 suspects as rival cults engaged each other in supremacy fight in Osogbo.

A resident of the Ilesha Garage area in Osogbo, identified simply as Olapade, told The PUNCH that two rival groups of hoodlums clashed in the area on Tuesday.

The clash by the groups led to panic in other areas such Oke Ayepe, Oja Oba and Station Road, as traders and others residents fled while the clashes lasted.

It was learnt that the rival groups exchanged gunfire until the early hours of Wednesday when security operatives dispersed them.

The state police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said the police arrested five suspects on Tuesday.

She added, “Another six were arrested today (Wednesdy). Those we arrested were caught with weapons.

“The situation is under control. Men have been deployed and we have also intensified monitoring of flash points.”
