THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has charged Nigerians not to abandon their culture because of religion.

Oba Ogunwusi disclosed this while playing host to the Ovie of Ozoro kingdom, Delta State, Ovietobore Ogbogbo in his palace in Ile-Ife.

Ooni, in a statement on Sunday by his Spokesman, Moses Olafare, further explained that there were clear distinctions between religion and culture, saying the two must be carefully studied and practised with one not encroaching on the other.

The statement read in part, “How can you be sitting on honey and milk and not enjoying? Something is not adding up and what you need to do is to visit your history. I am aware of your rich cultural heritage; please, do not throw them away for civilization or religion.”
