Museveni’s long stay: A chink in  the armour in ties with the West 


US president Joe Biden administration last month tapped the former Permanent Representative to the UN under the Obama administration, Samantha Powers, to lead the US overseas aid agency, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through which Washington funnels aid to Uganda.

In the aftermath of the contested 2016 Ugandan elections, Ms Powers told the security council that President Museveni was a risk to Uganda’s future stability due to government’s worsening repressive behaviour.
