Russia has donated 1,000 doses of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam, marking the first delivery of the vaccine to the Southeast Asian nation, state media reported on Tuesday. On February 26, Vietnam’s health ministry approved Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine for emergency use in a battle to contain a resurgence of the coronavirus, a spread that has now been contained. In August 2020, Vietnam signed up to purchase between 50 and 150 million doses of the Russian-made vaccine, although it is not known exactly how many doses the country intended to purchase.
