UNICAL students resume without hostel accommodation

Ada Wodu, Calabar

AS the University of Calabar resumes on Friday (today), hostel accommodation will not be available for the returning students.

This was contained in a statement Thursday by the Registrar of the university, Gabriel Egbe, who said accommodation would be ready by February 12.

According to him, “This is to inform our students that the University of Calabar will be resuming for normal academic activities tomorrow, (today) Friday 5th February, 2021. However, hostel accommodation will not be open to students until Wednesday February 12, 2021.

“This is to give room for the completion of the renovation of vandalised hostels. Returning students, especially those who were earlier allocated bed spaces in the hostels, are advised to seek temporary accommodation outside the campus until February 12, 2021.”

He also advised students to take note of the new development and be informed also that the university’s policy of ‘no squatting, in the hostel was still in force’.

“All students must adhere to all COVID-19 precautionary measures put in place by management,” Egbe said.
