Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted they were aiming to qualify for the Europa League at one point this season.
City recorded a 13th successive win in the Premier League on Wednesday night, as they beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor.
The victory keeps Guardiola’s men at the summit of the league table, ahead of a mouthwatering clash with champions Liverpool on Sunday.
City’s league position is reflects an outstanding run of performances, with Guardiola’s side lingering in midtable before Christmas.
“When we were 12th we were thinking “forget about the Premier League, [see] if we can achieve being in Europa League next season.”
“It’s not about runs of games, statistics. It’s always the next game, next game. For now we enjoy this game, and tomorrow we will start to think about the next game.”
