Oshoala hits brace as Nigerians paint Europe with goals

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala scored twice as Barcelona Ladies hammered Real Madrid 4-1 in Sunday’s league clash.

It’s the second time the Nigerian is hitting a brace this season, after her double against Rayo Vallecano last Wednesday.

Oshoala netted Barca’s third and fourth goals in the 37th and 70th minutes respectively.

In England, Everton winger, Alex Iwobi, was in action for 63 minutes in his team’s 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened Newcastle United.

Semi Ajayi was in action for the entire duration in West Brom’s 2-2 draw against fellow strugglers, Fulham. His compatriots, Ola Aina, Tosin Adarabioyo and Ademola Lookman, were in action for the Cottagers. Aina was replaced by Kenny Tete in the 81st minute.

Super Eagles target, Eberechi Eze’s lone goal was enough for Crystal Palace as they ran out 1-0 winners over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. The skillful midfielder scored in the 60th minute, his third goal of the season for the Eagles, who claimed their first league victory in four games.

In France, Nigerian winger, Samuel Kalu, scored his third goal of the season in Bordeaux’s 2-1 loss to Olympique Lyon in the French Ligue 1 on Friday.

Kalu scored his side’s equaliser in the 55th minute but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point for the visitors.

His compatriot, Josh Maja was an unused substitute.

In-form Nigerian forward, Terem Moffi, came off the bench to score the winning goal for Lorient in their thrilling 3-2 win over champions Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday. The striker replaced Adrian Grbic in the 61st minute and scored the winning goal in the 90th minute. Moffi has found the back of the net in his last five league games.

In the French lower league, Stephen Odey’s strike helped Amiens beat Chateauroux 1-0 on Saturday. The striker, on loan from Belgian side Genk, has scored three times in 15 matches this season.

In Spain, Sadiq Umar continued his fine form in the second tier league with a goal and assist in Almeria’s 3-1 win over Castellon. Sadiq assisted Jose Corpas for the hosts’ opening goal before restoring his team’s lead in the 78th minute after Jamelli had equalised for the visitors. The goal is Sadiq’s 11th of the season in 20 league outings, with four assists. Almeria are currently third in the league table, three points behind leaders Mallorca with a game in hand.

Henry Onyekuru scored a brace to hand Galatasaray a hard fought 2-1 victory over Gaziantep in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday on his debut.

It is the forward’s third loan spell at the Turkish giants, after rejoining from French side, Monaco.

Forward Babajide David scored and provided an assist in Hatayspor 5-1 humbling of champions Istanbul Basaksehir in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. The little-known Nigerian is currently on loan at the Turkish club from Danish side FC Midtjylland. He has four goals and three assists in 18 league games.
