Two workers of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State were on Thursday electrocuted.

Our correspondent gathered that one of affected persons, Michael Udosen, a contract worker, died on the spot, while the second victim, Effiong Joseph, was rendered unconscious and rushed to hospital for treatment.

It was gathered that the incident occurred around 2pm when the two workers were reconnecting an armoured cable that had earlier being vandalised near the Language Laboratory of the institution’s town campus.

A student, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “I saw one of them fell down from the pole and the second person was still hanging on the pole.  People around could not go close because they were scared.

“Some people came and immediately rushed the one that fell down to the hospital. But the one hanging on the pole died.”
